
Prof. Olusola Abiola Ladokun
LADOKUN, Olusola Abiola is the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Science and Technology), and a Professor of Nutritional Biochemistry in the Department of Chemical Sciences Biochemistry unit, Faculty of Natural and Applied Science, Lead City University, Ibadan. She has been actively involved in teaching and research at the Lead City University, Ibadan, for the past eighteen years. Her areas of research include but not limited to Food Chemistry, Ethnopharmacology, Nutraceuticals and Functional Foods. She has over fifty publications both in local and international journals to her credit.
She has attended and presented papers in conferences and workshops in Nigeria and internationally. She is a full member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management. In September 2020, she was admitted as a Professional member of the New York Academy of Sciences. In December 2020, she was inducted into the Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria.
She is the president, Business and Professional Women (Ibadan Club) of the Nigerian Federation of Business and Professional Women an affiliate of the Business and Professional Women International (BPWI). She is a member of the Task Force on Health and Wellness of BPWI.
Some of the awards she has received include:
- EMBO/EMBL symposium Registration Fee Waiver to attend the EMBO/EMBL symposium and Dynamics of Protein Networks held at the EMBL Advanced Training Centre Heidelberg Germany 13-16 October, 2011.
- Chinese Academy of Sciences, 2010 Travel Grant to attend the TWOWS Fourth General Assembly and International Conference, Beijing, China.
- Islamic Development Bank, 2007 Travel Grant to attend 8th African Crop Science Society Conference held at Minia University, El-Minia, Egypt.
- MASHAV Scholarship Award, 2004: Sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israel.
- Outstanding Lecturer of the Year Award 2021 awarded by South Nigeria Educational Awards (SNEAWARDS)
- In 2020/21 academic year, she was appointed a Visiting Professor to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem under the prestigious Lady Davis Trust Fellowship, the only Nigerian to be so awarded since the inception of the fellowship. Due to COVID restrictions she could not take up the fellowship, it was however magnanimously renewed for her, for the first time in history, for the 2021/22 academic year. She is also a Guest Lecturer at the University of Mauritius.
As a member of the New York Academy of Science (NYAS), she is a mentor in the 1000 girls, 1000 futures and the Junior Academy. In July 2021 NYAS in recognition of her meritorious services to 1000 girls, 1000 futures issued her different certificates. In August 2022 she was also issued a certificate of honour in recognition of her mentoring services in the “Urban Gardens – Get Growing!” Spring 2022 Innovation Challenge. In recognition of her mentoring skills and devotion to STEM, the MSciClinic, an online teaching platform for high school students, in July 2022, appointed her as the pioneer advisory board member. MSciClinic currently has presence in four continents of the world.
She has received training in the conduct of institutional accreditation. She was certified in 2021 by the Global University Network for Innovation (Africa) and the African Quality Assurance Network as a Certified Accreditor for Programme and Institutional Accreditation.
In January/March 2022, she received training in New Thrusts in Academic Planning and Development/Upgrading of University Strategic Documents. It was a training programme of the Virtual Institute for Capacity Building in Higher Education (VICBHE). She also completed a training on the Theory and Practice of Strategic Planning and Implementation. She recently completed a training on the Development and Implementation of University Law. She graduated with a Distinction plus.
In July 2022, she facilitated the signing of MOUs between the Oyo State Government and two universities, namely the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Ben Gurion University, in Israel. Terms of the MOU include scholarship opportunities for indigenes of Oyo State in these universities.
Redeemed by grace, she was ordained a Reverend in September 2016. She is the Provost Image of Christ Theological Seminary, Akure, Ondo State and the State Overseer, Royal Church of the Wise Assembly, Oyo State.
